Burning Passions Theater
‘Seniors Sharing Stories’ helps older adults share their concerns, hopes and dreams into transformative plays they can perform. This program aims to create new friendships that will survive past the program’s timeline.
Rideau-Rockcliffe Community
This project, ‘Connected Seniors’ responds to the issue of loneliness by creating monthly outings where seniors participate in local arts, physical and social activities, while building confidence in using public transit.
Catch a Smile
By working with the Ottawa Makers’ Shed to install gangway ramps, this initiative aims to build a community of older adults who enjoy boating and fishing.
Garry J. Armstrong
By harnessing the powers of virtual reality, this initiative aims to offer immersive experiences that can transport residents around the world to build a global-thinking, tech ‘savvy’ community.
Creating Community Wellness
‘Passport to Joy’ is a community-based initiative that celebrates the knowledge held by our older adults through activity fairs, storytelling circles, and others through a “passport booklet” that records each adult’s participation.
Therapeutic Riding Association
Say hello to the new stars of the show: horses. ‘Horsepower for Seniors’, through interesting activities like grooming, leading and even painting horses, aims to create an equine-loving community that supports new friendships.
Centre d’Accueil Champlain
An initiative that aims to reduce loneliness in long-term care residents by offering varied and stimulating experiences. These experiences serve to break the isolation, promote social inclusion, improve overall well-being.
Osgoode Care Centre
Through group and individual sessions led by musical therapists, the Music Therapy Program encourages residents to express themselves, explore creativity, and form community bonds that transcends words.

2024 saw an inaugural four impactful programs that received funding under the newly re-established Miroir Foundation.
Brenda Strafford
Implementing an award-winning program, the ‘Opening Minds through Art’ program allows older adults to express themselves creatively in a support, pressure-free environment that fosters inter-generational connections.
Royal Ottawa Place
Get ready to roll! ‘Cycling Without Age’ provides older adults with limited mobility a chance to get on tricycles in an effort to become “active” members of their communities.
Carleton Lodge
This initiative aims to install ‘glider swings’ across their property. These swings provide older adults an opportunity to enjoy the freedom of gliding back and forth on a swing without barrier.
Saul and Claribel
Through a collection of warm and festive lighting in the cold holiday months, this project aims to create cheerful and comforting atmospheres to foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity, and stimulate memory and social events.
